All plantlets cost $20.00 each and are available in any amount. The Tissue Culture Laboratory does not accommodate orders.

Please note that due to the January - February 2005 floods the Tissue Culture Laboratory is no longer functional and so this service will not be offered until further notice.

The objective of the Weed Science Department is to diagnose and advise on weed problems affecting crops in all administrative regions of Guyana.

There is also a Herbarium maintained by this department. It is available for use by researchers and agricultural science students. However, it would be appreciated if an appointment is made at least one day before.

While mounted grass specimens are not available for sale from the department, students who need to mount their own specimens can be assisted in doing so by the staff.

While it is highly recommended that you seek professional help in preserving specimens, should you be unable to access these facilities because of the constraint of distance, go to How to Collect, Dry and Mount Weeds for information on how to do it yourself, at home.

Please note that it takes approximately 2 weeks to obtain suitable specimens, dry them and mount them properly.
