Overview
As part of an on-going effort to continue the development of the agriculture sector, the Ministry of Agriculture in collaboration with the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), is supporting Guyana’s Agriculture Information Network (GAIN) project whose aim is to create an agricultural information system to benefit information users including but not limited to extension officers, technicians, farmers, students, researchers, and the private sector. The project objective is to create an agricultural information system that will provide:
Activities within the scope of the GAIN project include the delivery of training, the provision of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and the design and development of the web site Agri-Net Guyana. The Agri-Net Guyana web site is also designed to promote a greater understanding of the importance of agriculture in overall national development, and highlights the role played by the various Agencies within the Ministry of Agriculture in ensuring that the sector evolves in an efficient and sustainable manner.
