English

An intensive course which review the usage and types, sentence structure, mechanics of writing, dictation and theme development.

Biology

A general biology course which includes: cell structure and function, animal development, genetic evolution, behaviour, ecology.

Mathematics

Fundamentals of variables and graphs, frequency distribution, measures of central tendency, systems of equation and inequalities.

Physics

An introductory course that deals with the fundamental of properties of matter, mechanics, electricity and magnetism and relativity, heat and sound

General Chemistry

An introduction to the chemistry of carbon.

Technical Report Writing

Introduction to written communication and document design principles and strategies.  Emphases problem solving and critical thinking.

Rural Sociology

The rural environment and its people, its groups and associations and its social institutions.

Computer Science

Computer technology and concepts of computing.  Hands-on experience on personal computer with applications software, such as word processing, spread sheet and database management systems.

Personal Development

Introduction to the principles and practices of interpersonal relationships.  Emphasis is placed on self awareness of others, and the building of trust relationships as a basis for understanding and developing leadership.

General Management

A study of the nature and dynamics of managerial organizations, planning, communication processes and control problems, leadership and motivation in complex organizations and executive development.

Principles of Livestock Production

A comprehensive course, including the development of livestock production, its contributions to the economies of the region, characteristics of its products, factors of efficient and economical production and distribution.

Principles of Crop Production

A study of the basic agronomic principles involved in the growth, structure and soil plant interactive with emphasis on ecological processes.

Agricultural Economic 

A course dealing with the basic principles of agricultural economics.  Topics include production economics, principles of supply and demand, resource economics.

Animal Breeding

This course covers principles of genetics as applied to breeding farm animals.  Materials include explanations of genetic variation as a cause of variation in animal performance, characterization of the effects of selection, inbreeding and crossbreeding, and application of these procedures to development of breeding programmes to improve efficiency of production.

Agricultural Engineering

Study of hand and power tools, shop equipment as it relates to mechanized agriculture, in-tool fitting, plumbing, wood and metal work, electricity, construction and building materials, sketching, drawing and using plans for construction.

Pasture and Fodder Crops

A study of the principles that are basic to the establishment, management and utilization of forage crops and pastures.

Dairy Production

Principles of dairy cattle production.

Poultry Production

Application of poultry science to the practice of poultry production.

Introduction to Animal Health

To understand the role of the immune system in maintaining animal health, as the basis for vaccination programmes.  Appreciate the biological and economical impacts of internal and external parasites on performance and to evaluate the method of control, relate the more common diseases to animal performance and formulate a herd health plan for a livestock enterprise.

Microbiology

The concepts of morphology, genetics, immunology, ecology and pathogenic microbiology.  Applications of biotechnology to animal health and livestock food industry.

Animal Physiology

The physiology of domesticated animals with emphasis on functions related to production, and the physiological adaptation to environmental influences

Animal Nutrition

Nutrients and their fundamental role in animal metabolism, in relation to their biochemical role in metabolism, digestion, absorption and their deficiency symptoms.

Veterinary Anatomy

A systematic gross of microscopic comparative study of the anatomy of the major domestic animals.

Veterinary Pathology

The course deals with the nature and mechanism of the disease process in animals including degenerations, growth disturbances, inflammation, host/parasite relationship and neoplasia.

Veterinary Public Health

This course deals with veterinary public health in its application to skills, knowledge and resources for the protection and improvement of human health.  Also the principles and practices of meat, milk and fish production, processing, storage and distribution.

Animal Health and Diseases

The course deals with the evaluation of common diseases.  The aetiology, pathogenesis, epidemiology, clinical signs, gross and microscopic pathology and treatment of animal diseases including poultry will be covered.

Parasitology

This course covers the classification, morphology and parasites of animals.  Including the epidemiology, transmission, techniques for their identification, properties of their life cycle and principles of prevention and control.

Pharmacology

The pharmacological characteristics of drug-groups are emphasized and the system upon which they act.

Reproductive Physiology

Physiological principles controlling reproductive patterns of all domestic animals affecting fertility and improving reproductive efficiency.

Surgery

Various surgical conditions, techniques of repair and post surgical management of animals.

Field Training

Supervised application of the techniques learned.  This will involve the rotation from one area to another.

Sheep Production

Principles of sheep production.

Goat Production

Principles of goat production.

Aquaculture

Principles of aquaculture production technology.

Equine Husbandry

Principles of feeding, breeding and management of equines.

Environmental Education

The current concept, scope, goal and priorities of environmental health and its contribution to human health and national development

Seminar

Oral presentations on technical and practical topics of importance.

Government Procedures

The way a government is organized and how it operates in any country.

Special Projects

Individual study, reading and research projects in laboratories and on farms.  Also principles of planning, executing, information retrieval and writing up scientific investigations under the supervision of an academic staff.
