Non-Traditional Crops and Livestock Support Services were created to promote and support non-traditional crops and livestock production systems in Guyana.  The following sectors fall under the Ministry of Fisheries, Crops and Livestock:

• Agriculture Health

• Non-Traditional Crops Production and Protection Support Services

• Livestock Production and Protection Support Services

• Training and Communications

Agriculture Health

Agriculture Health is responsible for the providing support services in both Animal and Plant Health.

Non-Traditional Crops Production and Protection Support Services

This division is responsible for promoting and supporting the production of crops categorized as:

• Legumes (beans, black eye, minicas, other beans, peanuts)

• Orchard (cashew, citrus, cocoa, coconuts, coffee, mangoes)

• Roots and Tubers (banana, cassava, ginger, plantain, potatoes, yams)

• Vegetables (boulanger, cabbage, carrots, pak choy, pumpkin, squash)

Livestock Production and Protection Support Services

This division deals directly with promoting and supporting the production of the following:

• Poultry (boilers, ducks and layers)

• Goats

• Sheep

• Swine

Support services for cattle are provided by the National Dairy Development Programme (NDDP).

Training and Communication

The Training and Communication has special responsibility for the following areas:

• Hinterland Development

• Urban Agriculture 

• Youth Development.
